Taking the lead in industrial metering

Landis+Gyr recently won a significant contract to supply an industrial AMM system to the Shijiazhuang Power Supply Company, owned by Hebei Power Company of the State Grid Corporation in China.

The Shijiazhuang Power Supply Company is the biggest district utility of Hebei Power Company which is headquartered in Shijazhuang, the capital of Hebei province, in northern China. It supplies 20,000 Industrial and Commercial customers whose consumption is more than 100 kilo volt-ampere (kVA) and 500,000 households with electricity.

Landis+Gyr will install the system at the company’s headquarters and at its 220kv/110kv and 35kv substations. It will deliver the central system software as well as data concentrators for the substations. The system creates the preconditions needed for an automated and continuous process – from the meter up to bill clearing. This forms the foundation for a high-performance data warehouse system.

Tailored to local requirements
Landis+Gyr China implemented local requirement/features based on Converge and launched it as C3000, the next generation AMR system for grid and I&C market in China. This includes Chinese local communication protocol, China-specific Web based GUI, data exchange and IT security policy etc. Deployment is planned for May and June, and the site acceptance test of phase one deployment will be done in early July.

Strong in a fierce market
This order marks significant progress for Landis+Gyr China in the country’s fierce grid system market. It demonstrates Landis+Gyr's recognised skills and expertise in systems and in new technology, and also strengthens the company’s visibility in the market.

This latest win comes after Landis+Gyr successfully deployed an industrial AMM system to a number of Chinese power plants over the last three years including the Jinying power plant (generation output 2400MW), Ninde power plant (2400MW) and the Fuzhou power plant (1400MW) amongst others.
